Hong Kong luxury department store Lane Crawford gets innovative with the opening of its largest flagship in Shanghai.
Located at Times Square on Huai Hai Zhong Rd and set over four floors with a total of 150,000 square feet, the store costs 400 million yuan ($65.4 million) to build. Lane Crawford now has eight stores in Greater China.
The new store is designed as a “a modern gallery approach” to retail according to Inside Asia Retail. It features 500 international brands including Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Lanvin, Saint Laurent Paris, Alexander Wang and Sacai; as well as collections including Alice & Olivia and the introduction of J.Crew in China.
“Global retail leadership is now coming from China, and the China customer is at the forefront of fashion. We set out to create the ultimate luxury fashion and lifestyle destination – the largest selection of luxury brands in an innovative, highly visual space, offering world-class service at a scale never before seen in Shanghai,” president Andrew Keith said.
Keith said the portfolio of products was selected based on a deep understanding of their Chinese customers.

In additional to offering a deeper brand portfolio, it is driving innovation through “elevated service proposition that includes specialist personalized services not seen before in this market” according Keith. Some notable offerings:
-  About 1800 sqm of the store is dedicated to personalized services in beauty, fashion and lifestyle. The store offers luxurious, private styling areas that provide for a unique, tailor-made experience, delivered by 65 stylists and concierge staff.
-  As part of its connected commerce strategy, the Shanghai flagship store and its online store are connected to provide a seamless shopping experience both in store and at home. Customers can order online and pick up or return orders at the Online Shopping Concierge in the store
-  A 278 sqm space called The Hub is designed to support emerging creative talent in fashion, art and design, showcase their work.
