Luxury hotelier Elisabeth Gucci, daughter of the famed designer Paolo Gucci, plans to launch luxury boutique hotels in major cosmopolitan cities around the world. She hopes to have 40 hotels in 15 years.
Elisabetta Gucci Hotels and Resorts, which is developing these properties, is not affiliated with the Gucci fashion brand which is currently owned by PPR, not the Gucci family. But these hotels will be blazed with the Gucci name.
Gucci is planning its first 87-room hotel in Dubai later this year followed by China next year. Location of the China hotel has not been revealed. The luxury hospitality markets in major cities like Beijing and Shanghai are getting crowded, but savvy branding and differentiation could help set a brand apart.
