English clothier Turnbull & Asser—known for the superior shirting it’s created for royalty, celebrities, and tastemakers since its inception—recently celebrated its 125th anniversary by opening a three-floor flagship store on 57th Street, where it provides a comprehensive custom shopping experience that goes well beyond shirts.

In the Bespoke Room, clients can work with designers to create everything from shirts, ties, and pocket squares to socks, gloves, and even umbrellas. And, come September, Turnbull & Asser will expand its standard suiting lineup (which previously comprised only the basics—navy, black, and pinstripes) to include a range of colors, patterns, and cuts exclusive to the 57th Street store as a part of a new made-to-measure suit service (prices will start at $3,200). The store also features an impressive collection of vintage watches from Chopard, Rolex, and more, and will add antique cuff links, tie clips, and money clips, among other items, for fall.

In addition to all the new, Turnbull & Asser has dedicated a large part of the store to its storied past. The woodwork, for instance, mirrors that in the London shop on Jermyn Street, which was built in 1903. And replicas of every logo from the brand’s 125-year history cover the walls of the dressing rooms. Shirts from 1941 through today showcase the company’s style evolution, and notable pieces—such as the famous red velvet “Siren” jumpsuit designed for Winston Churchill and the cane created for Charlie Chaplin—are displayed like museum exhibits.

If your tastes demand a heavier dose of opulence to go along with all that rich heritage, rest assured the gents at Turnbull & Asser have you covered. The new store is one of the few places in New York (or anywhere in the States) where you can get a quality velvet smoking jacket and a two-tail tuxedo.
