Gucci swings open its doors tomorrow night to celebrate its 90th anniversary. Gucci has partnered with The Wolfsonian–Florida International University to host an exclusive cocktail party in its newly reopened Bal Harbour space designed by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini. This invitation-only event held at the Bal Harbour store location boasts an A-list hosting committee well versed in high profile events including Barbara Becker, Carlos Betancourt, Susanne Birbragherand Jonathan & Criselda Breene.
Celebrating 90 successful years of luxurious fashion, Gucci will also celebrate its ongoing commitment to art preservation and restoration by making a contribution to the Wolfsonian-FIU to support the future installation of their Italian Double Parlor (1900-01), a rare surviving example of Italian art nouveau designed by Agostino Lauro.
Gucci’s new store design is a work of art in itself using natural light, space, and the warmth of the materials to create a boutique as beautiful as the clothes, shoes and accessories inside. Giannini departs from the look of more traditional retail spaces using luxurious materials like rosewood, marble, ribbed glass, warm polished gold, smoked mirror and smoked bronze glass, recalling an era familiar to Miami, the Art Deco era. Inside, men’s and women’s ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, jewelry and accessories are showcased as well as the newly launched children’s collection and a series of exclusive Riva by Gucci accessories, arriving this spring.
