If you want to stay healthy you need to make sure you’re eating enough good food, but this can sometimes be a problem when you don’t have much money. I want to talk about a few cool ways you can reduce the amount of money you spend on food each week so you don’t have to go without.

Buy a slow cooker

If you don’t have a slow cooker at the moment you’ll need to get one. It’s one of the best ways to cook cheap food that tastes delicious. Have you seen those cheap cuts of meat at the butcher shop with the fat hanging off them? If you throw them in the slow cooker and leave it for a whole day the meat will soften until it melts in your mouth. You can also throw lots of vegetables in your stew and it will last for days even though everything combined only cost a few dollars.

No shopping if you’re hungry

Visit the supermarket when you’re hungry yand ou’ll end up throwing a lot of crap into your basket. Even if you go there with a list you will still try to sneak in a few little treats. Those little treats are usually the things that cost a lot of money and when you add them all together it’s even worse. When you go shopping after dinner it’s different because you don’t want to eat everything in sight. You might actually stick to the things on your list and you’ll end up saving lots of money.

Are they in season?

You might be wondering why you can’t always find certain vegetables when you go shopping. Some vegetables will be more readily available at certain times of the year and if they’re not in short supply they are always cheaper. You should start looking out for the vegetables in season and you can leave the more expensive ones for a few months. You might not always get the vegetables you want, but it’s an easy way to save a little more money.

Stock up on tupperware

The biggest expense for most people is the food they buy at lunch. Don’t spend time trying to save money when you go to the supermarket only to buy your lunch from a sandwich shop every day. If you have plenty of tupperware available you can cook your lunch at night then take it in with you the following day. Don’t pretend you’re too busy at night because everyone has 10 minutes to spare. You’ll be happy when you realize you can save hundreds of dollars per month.

Don’t be afraid of fat

By now you should have realized it’s excess calories that contributes to your big belly and not fat. You actually need fat to survive, so you should savor it. The reason I’m telling you not to be afraid of fat is because meat with more fat is a lot cheaper. Lean meat is expensive and it’s not worth the money. Fatty meat will definitely contain more calories, but that just means you need to eat less of something else. The fat also makes it very tasty, whereas lean meat is a lot more bland.
